Based, as we called it, originally called Ascent from Darkness by me, was the first major production I've taken part in during the end of my second year at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, where I was one of two designers in the project. We had decided to make a game based upon a little alien, called Zid, trying to escape from an underground facility after being captured.
I've mostly worked in the game as part of the level, audio, and narrative design of the project. I designed the five levels in the game, each meant to get harder as the game progresses, from a straight line, a maze-like structure to a level you have to fight your way out. Taking my designs, we've adapted the levels to have much more than what was intended for the game, such as giving the first level a second level that the play can walk up to as well as doors that can only be opened with a key.
The audio part of the game was mostly designed by me, where I managed to get my team members to record voicelines and activate them within the game using trigger boxes, which also ties in with the narrative of the game, since that was the only way the story I wrote down could be conveyed within the dialogue of the game.
